CSRDS runs on any Windows PC communicating with the automation system or satellite service via IP, Serial or monitoring a metadata file. As the metadata is received CSRDS filters out unwanted content based on the automation system categories, then formats and send the data to the selected devices and services.
To post to RDS/RBDS encoders CSRDS communicates to the encoder via an IP or serial connection and send the ASCII text commands based on the selected encoder.
For HD Systems, CSRDS formats the data based on the selected Format and send the data to the iBiquity HD API that handles the actual communication to the HD system. For the Artist Experience you will need the JMSAC API available from your hardware manufacturer. For newer HD systems this will already be installed and configured on the HD MultieCast+ unit. For older system you will need to install and configure the Export with the necessary services and configure the JMSAC accordingly. See The Artist Experience for Details.
For Web Sites and Streaming Services, CSRDS communications via FTP, HTTP, TCP, UDP, URL posts, output files to be monitored by the service. There are no set standards as to how metadata is formatted for these services so CSRDS supports user definable Templates. A template is a text file in the required format with our merge codes where the data is to go. See CSRDS Templates for details.
Web Services require an internet connection allowing the CSL application to poll the site for data.

Send metadata one CSRDS location to remote sites via an FTP transfer. CSRDS uploads the now playing information to the stations FTP site using the included CSRAS template. CSWeather monitors the site and will download and post the metadata to the instance of CSRDS running at the site.
Export Music Logs from Music Music Master to CSRAS based on Scheduled Times OR Trigger segments based on on-Air event.
*Generic Format; Since there are no set standards for how systems format metadata for data casting we have added a “Generic” format that will search the metadata for common tags and terminators to find the key data items. This includes the Title, Artist, Cart/Cut ID, Type of event and duration. Normally this is an XML, XML “like” or a text format such as
<Title>song title</Title> or more text related Title=”song title” which may be definable within the automation system which can be used even if the automation system is not listed as a supported system.
